The Office of International Education (OIE) at the University of Colorado Boulder consists of Education Abroad (EA) & International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS). OIE’s mission is to actively promote international and intercultural understanding and to enrich the academic and cultural environment of CU Boulder by facilitating the exchange of people and ideas. OIE brings CU to the world and the world to CU.Education Abroad administers over 400 CU Boulder-sponsored programs in more than 70 countries around the world. Over 1,500 CU Boulder students study on CU Boulder programs annually. The mission of the Education Abroad unit is to provide students with a comprehensive selection of academically sound and experientially-rich education abroad programs that foster their personal development and prepare them to successfully engage in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world.
Position Description
Education Abroad (EA) invites applications for the position of Global Start Ambassador in the Office of International Education. Education Abroad will hire approximately 1 Ambassador for January 2025-August 2025. The Ambassador is primarily responsible for marketing, outreach, and pre-departure mentorship of the Fall 2025 Global Start London cohort. Responsibilities include presenting to students and parents, tabling at fairs, developing marketing content (including flyers, social media posts, etc.), and connecting with prospective and accepted applicants on student life questions. In addition, the Ambassador will support the day-to-day functions of the office, including delivering marketing materials across campus and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Present at 8 Admitted Buff Days (ABD) and table at the ABD resource fairs, which will take place on Monday & Friday afternoons throughout the Spring 2025 semester. Audience members are prospective CU students & their families;
- Present and/or table at other outreach events as needed, including Admitted Students Day;
- Help develop and distribute print & electronic marketing materials, and assist with other marketing initiatives;
- Develop Global Start-specific social media content;
- Help with the preparation & facilitation of Global Start orientations, including a virtual Meet & Greet event, and a full-day in-person orientation in July;
- Create & develop swag for Global Start students;
- Serve as the primary contact/resource for prospective students & families who have questions about the student life experience;
- Complete administrative duties, including assisting with the Global Start email account;
- Work on other projects as determined by the skill set of the Ambassador and the needs of the office.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Be a current University of Colorado Boulder student & maintain student status during the term of employment;
- Have completed a Global Start program with CU Boulder
- Commit to a January - August 2025 position and be available for all ABD presentations & fairs
- The position’s hours vary by week but will usually be around 5 hours a week with occasional weeks closer to 10 hours. These hours will include some evening and weekend work. Known times that you will be expected to work increased hours include:
- Admitted Students Day: Saturday, April 5th
- Global Start orientations in May & July (dates TBD)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills;
- Enthusiasm for and interest in public speaking;
- Experience with graphic design and/or social media content management;
- Demonstrated attention to detail, punctuality, and reliability;
- Ability to respond to emails quickly and regularly;
- Experience with time management & organization;
- Enthusiasm for the development of new skills and knowledge.

Compensation:
This position is paid hourly; pay is allocated bi-weekly. Compensation is awarded for all hours worked, including the training period, evening & weekend work, and all mandatory meetings. The pay rate is $16.50 per hour.Benefits:
All Undergraduate and Graduate Student Positions are hired as Student Hourly, and are not eligible for tuition remission. Work-Study is used, if awarded and available, but not required for hire.Benefits are limited but include possible Student Retirement, and Sick Leave that accrues at a rate of 0.034 sick hours per every 1 hour worked. Mandatory Time Commitments
