Gilman Scholarships
- The U.S. Department of State’s Gilman Scholarship enables American undergraduate students who receive a Pell Grant to study or intern abroad through scholarships of up to $5,000.
- Students studying critical need languages are eligible for a supplemental award up to $3,000, and students conducting STEM research abroad are eligible for a supplemental award up to $1,000.

- The Gilman-McCain Scholarship for Military Families also supports child and spousal dependents of active or activated duty military members by providing awards of $5,000.
Deadlines: Scholarships are awarded twice annually. Typically, the deadlines are in early October and early March. Plan ahead and talk to an advisor in our office for help!
Step 1: Research programs and read the tips for CU Boulder students. Mark your calendar with deadline dates and make a plan to apply.

Step 3: Submit both the application for your program and the Gilman Scholarship by the deadlines.
