Did you study abroad as a student? What was your international experience like?
Studying abroad in my Junior year of college was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I was exposed to many cultural experiences not available in the states. I reflect on my theater class in London every day. Although the academic aspect was rigorous, I had time to travel throughout England and Europe. To say that this experience was a life-changing event for me is an understatement. It instilled within me the confidence to grow my business internationally.
Why should students study entrepreneurship abroad?
I am the poster child for the benefits to studying abroad. The experience allows young entrepreneurs to expand their horizons. This instills a greater cultural understanding and creates the foundation for broader creative thinking. Some of the connections/networking/experiences will last a lifetime.
Why did you choose France as the location for your Global Seminar?
France has a history of 200-year-old family businesses and an ecosystem that supports a rapidly growing startup scene. The cultural aspect provides a backdrop for creativity, international business comparisons and personal growth. There is no better place to develop the fundamentals for creating a new venture.
What is your favorite French food?
I‘m a sucker for chocolate croissants and roasted bistro chicken. Everything tastes better in Paris!
What aspect of this program do you look forward to the most?
The most exciting aspect for me is helping our students grow creatively, intellectually, and culturally. Students should leave with both a greater self confidence and ability to creatively solve challenging problems. There is nothing theoretical here; the added skillsets will be applicable immediately.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Hard work and having fun are not mutually exclusive. We will have a blast!
