I had the best six weeks of my life this summer in Italy. The professors through my program made the experience even more exciting. Both professors through Accent were so passionate about what they were teaching me, it made coming back to school here in Boulder difficult. I have never felt more engaged in school before. However, Accent itself was pretty unorganized, the people there we not very helpful or friendly. I would have been nice to have people to go to that would have actually been excited to help us out. I never felt comfortable asking them questions because they would get annoyed. I loved being in the historic center! our apartment was placed in one of the best local communities we were told, there was always something going on. The location really allowed me to experience the culture in a different way than I ever expected. The apartment was small, but do-able, we never really spent that much time in it anyways. Down the street from our apartment there was a fountain where all the locals would gather at night and the social experience was so cool. I never used to bus system or metro that often, only because I enjoyed walking from place to place I was able to see more that way. But when I did use the local transportation it was pretty easy to follow. I only got on the metro the wrong way once. I wish we had don more excursions, our excursion to Hadrian's Villa and Villa D'este was by far one of my favorite experiences of the trip.

I like location, interactions with locals.

The Layers of Rome course was an incredible class that allowed us to walk the streets of Rome and better understand all that we were looking at! As expected, studio was a lot of work, but more then paid off! All in all I believe I learned more out of the class room than I did in classes. Rome was an amazing place to study, mostly because it was in such a great location to visit surrounding cities. Day and weekend trips out of Rome added exponential value to this trip! Seeing medieval castles, ancient ruins, and near by architecture made my trip!

Courses are excellent. You get a detailed tour of the city over two weeks that you would never get otherwise. Your are in the heart of Rome and the apartments are small but in a nice part of the city. The roman people are very friendly and always willing to help, especially if you are trying to immerse yourself in their culture. THe excursions are amazing. You get access to new cultures, new people and get to see a wide variety of Italy.

The courses that we took were very educational. The location was phenomenal, and the locals were very friendly. The daily excursions we took as a group were very informative and a great experience.

The Course was great, very relevant, and applicable to my studies. The location was perfect, there is no better city to study architecture and site analysis than in Rome. The Romans for the mod part were friendly and helpful. The field trips to surrounding neighborhoods and city were a great way to get out of Rome and experience different parts of Italy, especially Venice!

The courses were difficult and took a lot of time but very interesting and I learned a lot.
The location was amazing!
We didn't interact too much with locals.

Can't really go wrong with the location that you choose as long as you ultimately enjoy the experience. Try to meet as many locals as possible and try to be fully emerged in the culture.

I absolutely loved being in Rome and learning about the vast history of the city. The course I took was so in depth, it forced me to learn about new cultures, city planning and design. This course was a huge benefit to my college career. They taught us how to speak some Italian which was great to learn how to interact with the local people. The parts I loved the most were the excursions to different cities, such as Ostia Antica or Venice and being able to see different parts of Italy.

Individually, the courses were incredible. In concert, they created one of the most impactful and memorable experiences I have had in my education to date.

The locals were extremely friendly and welcoming. However, interactions were a bit limited due to the intensity of the program.

The excursions were also amazing. I especially enjoyed the Abruzzo trip, and getting to visit the Biennale in Venice was another serious highlight.

It was fantastic, we had an amazing instructor and getting to know fellow ENVD students in a new setting was ground breaking. I would 10/10 recommend this program to whoever has a sense of adventure, and is willing to push themselves to their limits. It was extremely eyeopening, and the conversation we had were so meaningful and the student actually wanted to have these "school book" sort of conversations.. it became more about sharing your thoughts rather than the grade.

The courses were definitely challenging, but in a positive way. I was pushed intellectually to do my best work and learn as much as possible. Rome is an amazing city to live in, explore, and learn about. Locals were very kind and understanding as long as you are well behaved and polite. The city gives back what you put into it. The excursions were some of the most memorable experiences and elevated the trip for all.

Marianne, the program director, is by far the most inspiring and nurturing professor I've ever had the pleasure of having. Her approach to teaching, at home and abroad, is graceful and unparalleled.

The other teachers in the program were also very inspiring.

Marianne is the best professor I have had in my college career. She has an amazing talent for teaching as well as relating to her students on a personal level. The accent staff were extremely nice and willing to help in any way possible.

All of the on-site activities we had in our history class were very useful in learning about the history of the city. Rather than learning about an old structure in a book, we were able to walk around the structure, and occasionally inside it. This made learning about these ancient structures much more enjoyable. The excursions we had were also nice because they took us out of the busy city and into other parts of the country that we otherwise would not have seen.

All of the courses were very interesting and enjoyable. With a smaller class size, everything ran a lot smoother. Also with the small class size, we all knew each other pretty well early on and enjoyed each other's company.

The Urban site analysis and design program in rome is rigorous and challenge you intellectually and as an individual. It was an amazing learning experience in many ways. The location of Rome, Italy allowed us to live a city lifestyle and live among the Roman people. They were friendly and welcoming. We took the tram with them every morning and got to know some Italian when we would go to eat, or to the Cafe. Our trips on the weekends were a great time to get out of the Rome and have a change of scenery. One of my favorite parts was working and meeting with architecture firms in Rome and seeing how they work and what they do.

All of our teachers were amazing. Francesca taught us survival Italian in the first two weeks, and she was great at helping us to ask questions and participate. The history course with Dr. Antonella was one of the best courses I have ever taken - we walked all over Rome with her, learning about the different time periods, culture, history, politics, and more. She was very engaging and the course load wasn't overwhelming. Studio was a lot of work too, but Dr. Marianne Holbert is a fantastic professor and made it feel more manageable. The studio was very relevant to our history course, and we got to visit an architecture school and two firms in Rome. All in all, I learned so much in six weeks and finished with one of the best studio projects I have ever done.
