Region of the Year: Latin America
By Kayla Armstrong-Weier, EA Program ManagerLatin America is Region of the Year in Education Abroad!
“Studying in Latin America is a unique opportunity that challenges students to engage with cultures, histories, and perspectives that are often overlooked,” says Adilene Garcia Aniles, program manager in Education Abroad for Latin America programs. “Many programs in the region do not require students to have a Spanish background, but for those students who want the language immersion, it will contribute to their development linguistically, especially as the Spanish dialects spoken in this region are widely spoken across the globe.”
As part of the Region of the Year initiative, students who choose to study in Latin America in 2025 will receive the Explorer Scholarship and automatically get up to $2000 off of their program fee, with additional scholarship funding available. Twenty students will be studying in Latin America in spring 2025 and 36 students are applying for summer programs.
With over 60 programs across 13 Latin American countries, students have plenty of options to choose from. These programs vary from a few weeks during the summer to semester-long with a wide variety of subjects, including STEM fields, Spanish language, environmental studies, public health and more.
