Rafael MartíRegular Visiting Professor, Operations Management
Operations Management (Valencia, Spain)
Did you study abroad as a student? What was your international experience like?
Yes, I actually visited CU Boulder while being a student at the University of Valencia. It was very eye-opening.
Why should Business majors study abroad?
Businesses are different in Europe than in the U.S. The European perspective will be very valuable and complements the on-campus knowledge.
Why is Valencia such an excellent location for your Global Seminar?
It is more than an important city in Spain - it is a key point in the Mediterranean operations which involves many countries. According to the New York Times, Valencia is the real deal, not an attraction for tourists.
What is your favorite thing to share about Spanish culture?
We are open. We like people and believe that you can be good at business and be friendly at the same time.
What aspect of this program do you look forward to the most?
Students say that company visits are great. I go with them to illustrate what we learn in the class together.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I am in a unique position to understand CU students and how to work in Valencia, being a visiting professor at CU Boulder for almost 10 years and a permanent professor at the University of Valencia.
