Billing

As a participant in a CU Boulder education abroad program, you will be charged a program fee based on the instructional costs of the specific program you choose. You are not charged CU Boulder tuition and fees.

Education Abroad program fees are billed to your CU Boulder Bursar Account. You will automatically receive an email to your colorado.edu email address when your fees are billed. To view your program's cost before receiving your bill, refer to the Program Cost page.

For some programs, you will pay some smaller program fees directly to the program organization. These may include application fees, deposits, course fees, additional instructional costs, special excursions, and all or partial housing costs. You can see what is covered in your Education Abroad Program Fee billed by CU Boulder vs what you will pay directly to the program on the Program Cost page.

Pro-Tip: Understanding Your Program Fee

The Education Abroad Program Fee is divided into two or three charges:
  • IC – Instructional Costs/Tuition
  • SA Non-Resident Fee IC – Non-Resident Fee (if applicable)
  • OT – Health Insurance plus Housing and Meals (if included in the program fee)
How scholarships appear on your bill: Education Abroad scholarships are generally applied as a credit rather than receiving a check; most scholarships are given as a reduction in the overall program fee. If you received an Education Abroad-specific scholarship, you will see it applied to your bill as 'IC-Adj, Education Abroad Schlp-General, Education Abroad Schlp-Gift Fu, etc' depending on the source of the scholarship funds.
